Team Composition Revisited: A Team Member Attribute Alignment Approach

Research methods for studying team composition tend to employ either a variable-centered or person-centered approach. The approach allows scholars consider how patterns of attributes between members influence teams, while the variation in multiple within influences subgroup formation and its effects. Team theory, however, is becoming increasingly sophisticated, assuming on both members—for example, predicting functions differently when most assertive are also optimistic rather than pessimistic.
